What to bring, how long, and medication.
What should I take with me?
Comfortable clothing and shoes, alcohol-free toiletries, a journal or approved reading material, and any prescription medications, which our medical staff must review. Avoid bringing anything containing alcohol, weapons, or items not permitted under our care guidelines. Admissions walks through the rest on the call.
More admissions questions →How long will I be in treatment?
Length of stay is determined by medical necessity and your treatment plan. If you start with medical detox, how long withdrawal symptoms last depends on the substance, how much and how long you have used, and your overall health. Discharge planning begins on arrival, as part of your treatment plan.
What medical detox involves →What is medication-assisted treatment (MAT)?
Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) pairs medication with counseling and therapy. At Hickory Grove, MAT uses Suboxone (buprenorphine and naloxone), Subutex (buprenorphine), and Vivitrol (extended-release naltrexone). These medications can reduce cravings, and buprenorphine can also ease opioid withdrawal symptoms. Qualified medical providers evaluate medication needs and tailor medical care to each patient.
